Envisaging the final results of butt augmentation

Introduction

Butt augmentation is very sought after nowadays considering everyone’s fascination with the buttocks. We admire beautiful buttocks all day on mass media, and there are celebrities who have become famous mostly for their buttocks and little else. So it is only natural for people from all venues of life to be interested in getting a bigger butt.

The only efficient method to get the butt of your dreams is with the help of plastic surgery. Squats and other physical exercises can certainly help you get a toned body; however, they are rarely efficient in increasing the size of the buttocks and giving them the right shape.

In this article, we will discuss the types of butt augmentation procedures and envisaging the final results.

Overview of buttock augmentation

Just like breast augmentation, we have two methods available that can be used for butt enhancement purposes nowadays. First is via silicone implants, and then we have the “natural” method via fat grafting.

  1.   Butt implant surgery

Butt implant surgery is the procedure recommended for patients with small buttocks compared to the rest of their anatomy who have little fat in their bodies to qualify for fat transfer and want to achieve a considerable increase in the size and visible projection of the booty. The implants used for this procedure are made out of semi-solid silicone gel, are FDA-approved, and completely safe for the patient. There are little risks associated with using butt implants. Because of the different materials used and the area targeted with the procedure, we don’t have the specific risks associated with breast implants such as the rupture or leaking of the implants or the need to remove and replace the implants after the warranty expires. Gluteal implants are resistant to pressure so there is no need to remove them, not unless a severe complication occurs.

Butt implant surgery entails making incisions on the buttocks to allow the plastic surgeon to insert the gluteal implants. The incisions are often positioned in the fold between the buttocks. Most plastic surgeons and patients prefer this type of incision as it is not visible after the patient heals; however, there is an increased risk of infection when choosing this incision placement. The incisions are used by the surgeon who will cut through the tissues of the buttocks until reaching inside the gluteal muscles or under the muscles where a pocket is created. This pocket will accommodate the gluteal implants. After the implants are inserted, the plastic surgeon will suture the incisions and the patient is moved to the recovery room.

  1.   Fat grafting to the buttocks

Fat grafting is the more natural procedure that is performed on patients who have an excess of adipose tissue localized in other areas of the body that can be addressed with liposuction. The procedure is recommended for patients who want a general improvement in the shape and size of the buttocks, and not a considerable increase in projection. The fat is collected from the areas with an excess of fat. These areas are called donor areas and can be the flanks or the abdominal wall, but also the back or the thighs. The aim is to target as many areas as possible to get the necessary amount of fat for the transfer. Performing liposuction will furthermore sculpt the body of the patient, but the main goal here is to collect fat and not necessarily slim down the waist if abdominal liposuction is performed.

In one session, the plastic surgeon shouldn’t remove more than six to seven liters of fat as otherwise, complications can occur. This means that there is a limited amount of fat that can be injected into the buttocks at once. Also, keep in mind that not all the fat that is harvested with liposuction will be injected in the buttocks. The fat needs to go through a complex purification process by means of centrifugation, and only the pure and healthy fat cells will be used for grafting. The fat is injected with the help of special syringes in different areas of the buttocks and at different depths. Very small incisions are required that usually heal well and are barely visible a few months down the line.

When do the final results of butt augmentation transpire?

Many patients are curious about when the final results of butt augmentation will transpire. As is case with any other surgical procedure performed for aesthetic purposes, the final results often take time to settle.

The augmentation is obvious immediately after both procedures for butt augmentation. After getting either implants or fat transfer, the patient will wake up from the general anesthesia with a bigger butt lying on the front of her body as the recommendation is to avoid lying on the back for a minimum of three weeks after the procedure.

However, during the recovery period, things develop differently. When butt implant surgery is performed, the buttocks will be swollen and bruised for a few weeks or months. The patient is advised to treat the incision area with utmost care so infection doesn’t occur. Also, walking must be resumed gradually to allow the implants to settle in their pockets.

Because the implants are positioned inside or under the gluteal muscles that are involved in all the movements of the lower body, the recovery period can be associated with a higher level of pain and discomfort. The side effects after the procedure will disappear within a few weeks, and the implants will settle over the initial few months after the procedure. Following the recommendations of the plastic surgeon for post-operative care is essential for the success of your procedure. Because it can take up to nine months or more for the cicatrization process to be completed, the recommendation is to assess the final results no sooner than a year after the procedure.

When envisaging the final results, the patient should consider the projection of the buttocks that can be spectacular, depending on the type of implants that were chosen and the initial anatomy of the patient, and also the fact that the procedure produces little changes on the lower and side part of the buttocks.

As for fat grafting, the final results can take up to three months to be fully visible. After the procedure, the body will reabsorb a certain percentage of the fat cells that were injected into the buttocks. This is a natural process, and a percentage up to 30% can be reabsorbed during the first two months post-op. The plastic surgeon will tell you all about this when preparing you for undergoing the procedure and envisaging the final results.

This means that the patient will go from different stages after fat grafting until the results are final. The buttocks are initially bigger, and in time they will decrease a bit in size and their shape will become the final one. Keep in mind that wearing the compression garments after fat grafting is essential for the success of the procedure and it is also mandatory not to sit or lie on the buttocks as this might cause the fat cells grafted to die.

Conclusion

The butt augmentation procedures performed nowadays are butt implant surgery and fat transfer to the buttocks. Each procedure is performed following a different surgical plan and boasts different results. The final results with implants are associated with an impressive projection of the buttocks as the implants are positioned on the upper part of the butt, under or inside the gluteal muscles. At the same time, patients are advised to expect little changes in the appearance of the lower and side parts of the buttocks. Things are different when fat transfer is performed, as the results consist of a general improvement in the anatomy of the buttocks. The plastic surgeon injects fat in all areas of the buttocks, hence being able to create a rounder shape and more alluring curves compared to butt implant surgery.
