Medicines and foods to avoid before buttock surgery

Buttock augmentation is a complex procedure performed with the purpose of increasing the volume of the buttocks either by using silicone implants or the patient’s own fat cells. The procedures are different in terms of the surgical plan followed; however, when it comes to preparation, the pre-operative recommendations are similar. Before anything else, the patient is advised not to smoke for at least three weeks before surgery as this might trigger unwanted complications and also prolong the recovery process. There is also a list of medicines and foods to avoid before undergoing buttock augmentation surgery, such as:

1. Anti-inflammatory medication

Anti-inflammatory medication not recommended by the plastic surgeon should not be taken for at least two weeks before the procedure. If you take any anti-inflammatory medication during this time, make sure to tell the plastic surgeon as chances are your surgery will be rescheduled.

2. Birth control pills

Birth control pills should be stopped a month before the procedure or as per the plastic surgeon’s recommendations. If it is not possible to stop birth control pills, discuss this issue with the surgeon to find an alternate solution.

3. Natural supplements

While many patients consider natural supplements to be completely harmless with no side effects, things might be different when it comes to undergoing a surgical procedure. There are certain supplements that could cause excessive bleeding due to their anti-coagulating effects, and this is something we need to avoid after surgery.

4. Fast food

The diet before surgery should be balanced and healthy. This will allow the body to be in the best condition and recover faster. The diet should be rich in fibers to avoid constipation that is common after surgical procedures and can cause unnecessary pain and discomfort. Fast food is often food that is deep-fried, rich in calories and empty of any nutritional value. Avoiding fast food before undergoing surgery is important.

5. Foods high in refined sugar

Generally speaking, it is recommended not to eat foods that are high in refined sugar, especially when it comes to preparing to undergo butt augmentation surgery. Your immune system might weaken after consuming these types of foods, so make sure to avoid them for at least a week before your procedure.

The plastic surgeon will give you a list of all medicines and foods to be avoided before surgery. If you consume any of the foods or medicines on the list, make sure to contact the plastic surgeon and let him know as the surgery might be set up for a later date.
