Buttock augmentation surgery is commonly performed nowadays as both men and women desire an increase in their rear ends to look more alluring. The procedure is a complex surgery and entails certain risks and complications. The majority of these risks can be minimized by choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon who performs this procedure routinely and also by following the advice for post-operative care.
Here are some things to avoid during the first two weeks after buttock augmentation:
1. Sleeping, lying or sitting directly on the buttocks
The main recommendation after butt augmentation surgery is to avoid sleeping, lying or sitting on the buttocks. This is important both in terms of achieving good results but also to avoid unwanted complications such as wound opening. Sitting directly on the buttocks during the first two weeks can cause enough pressure on the incisions to open them. This could trigger infections and other complications. This is why it is imperative to never sit, lie or sleep on your buttocks during the first two weeks. Your plastic surgeon will recommend a special pillow that you can use under the hamstrings.
2. Not wearing compression garments
Compression garments are mandatory to be worn nonstop during the first two weeks after buttock augmentation. Their role is to better define the results and also to reduce the swelling. Compression garments will ensure you get a better result, so make sure to wear them around the clock as per the surgeon’s instructions.
Smoking causes a lack of proper oxygenation to the blood and can delay the recovery process or prolong the healing. Patients undergoing butt augmentation surgery are advised to stop smoking at least three weeks before a procedure and remain smoking free for at least three more weeks after surgery. This will also reduce the risks associated with developing skin or fat tissue necrosis and delayed wound healing.
4. Eating junk food
After the procedure, it is normal for some patients to witness an increase or decrease in their appetite as each person responds differently to surgery. However, having a balanced diet is essential to have a smooth and fast recovery process. It is common for patients to experience constipation after surgery and this is something that needs to be avoided at all costs after the butt augmentation procedure. Eating junk food that is low in nutrients and high in calories is to be avoided. Instead, choose a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Moreover, make sure to drink enough fluids to keep the body hydrated during the recovery process. Recommended drinks are water, herbal infusions, and freshly squeezed fruits and vegetable juices.
